Nishan Akgulian’s artwork is a product of his love of gestural drawing and the minimalist aesthetic. Combining expressive brush strokes with carefully designed abstract shapes he always strives to give a visual energy to every image he creates.
Nishan’s work has appeared in numerous national and international magazines, advertising campaigns and corporate publications (A partial client list includes: The New Yorker, Sports Illustrated, The Wall Street Journal, United Airlines, Lands' End, Major League Baseball, Sprint & Citibank.) He has done nearly 100 greeting cards for Marcel Schurman Fine Papers and Graphique de France, and has been included in numerous industry illustration annuals, including Communication Arts, Print magazine & American Illustration. His artwork has also been exhibited in several juried group shows in New York City, as well as Hartford, CT, Evanston, IL, and Racine, WI.
